Olivia Wilde has been catching some serious heat over the weekend after she appeared to take aim at Taylor Swift’s dating life.   

The 39-year-old Don’t Worry Darling director poked fun at the recent mass coverage of 33-year-old Taylor’s dating life.

The Grammy-winning hitmaker has dominated headlines in recent weeks thanks to her rumoured romance with NFL star Travis Kelce.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Olivia reposted a meme that read: ‘I wish Taylor Swift was in love with a climate scientist.’

She’s still facing serious criticism over the move, with disgruntled Taylor fans continuing to call Olivia out on X, formerly known as Twitter, despite the fact the director and actress appeared to be commenting on the mass hysteria surrounding Taylor’s romantic interests as opposed to the A-lister’s dating life itself.

In response to the meme, one person wrote: ‘Olivia Wilde posting this when she hasn’t done a thing for climate change […] what a fake hypocrite.’

Another social media user added: ‘Keep my wife’s name (Taylor Swift) out your mouth,’ while someone else chimed in, ‘These little jabs are unnecessary when Olivia Wilde herself has been in the spotlight for her own messy love life and scandals.’

‘The stupidest thing @oliviawilde could do after breaking up with Harry Styles is daring to mention Taylor Swift,’ tweeted another Swiftie.

Someone else added: ‘[Olivia] herself has never dated anyone who has done anything for climate change.’

Olivia has steered clear of any potential romance since her breakup with Harry Styles, 29, in November after the pair began dating during the filming of Don’t Worry Darling.

She did venture out in Harry’s T-shirt in June, although there are no rumours of rekindling the romance as the My Policeman star has moved on – with the hitmaker recently having been spotted getting cosy with actress Taylor Russell.

Meanwhile, Taylor has been linked to Travis since her split from Matty Healy, who she had a brief fling with after breaking up with long-term partner Joe Alwyn in April.
